“Death Walks at Midnight” is based on the Italian Giallo called “La morte accarezza a mezzanotte”. The movie is best known as “Death Walks at Midnight” – but it also had the title “Cry Out in Terror” – as sung in the bridge. None of the English titles for the movie had much to do with the plot. It was just some cool titles to sell to movie. The plot in the movie is very simple; it is just a masked man that kills people with his iron glove. The song is all about the thrill of a kill from the point of view of the killer. It is also a tiny tribute to Iron Maiden in the lyrics, but it might be hard to find. The song starts with a sinister intro. The main riff is kind of a reversed spider chord – a guitar technique popularized during the 80’s thrash metal scene. Specially by Dave Mustaine in both Metallica and Megadeth. The drummer Raymond does a nice rhythm in the bridge, inspired by Hellhammer from the days he used to fill in for him at some gigs with The Kovenant. The mid-part is pure old school thrash metal. It is a fun song to play with a cool groove.
LYRICS:
Now! Take your time
And look behind
Death smiles tonight
A killer at sight
Cry out in terror
Cry baby cry!
Death – walks at midnight
Death – walks the night
Death – walks at midnight
Death – walks the night
Lust – for some blood
Let me – see it flood
Dragged – through the mud
Killed – in cold blood
Cry out in terror
Cry baby cry!
Death – walks at midnight
Death – walks the night
Death – walks at midnight
Death – walks the night
